Glass forming
Hollow glass products, such as bottles and carafes, are manufactured by pressing gobs of molten glass into shapes. A typical process is as follows: molten glass is first conditioned in a feeder mechanism, and then extruded, cut into gobs sized for the container to be formed, and fed into the forming mechanism via a distributor. In the forming mechanism, the glass is pressed into a mold, blown into shape, and removed via a take-out mechanism into a conveyor belt.
